It may look a bit harsh with the cows having their heads in those stalls, but they can actually come and go as they please. These are called stanchions, and they help prevent the cows from stepping into their feed or getting manure in it, keeping everything clean and organized. This setup helps us maintain a tidy, safe environment for the cows while they eat. 🖤

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the Brown Swiss breed? Yes, this beauty is a Jersey x Brown Swiss cross, but isn’t she just gorgeous?!

🐄 They have a distinct light to dark brown coat with a white face, making them easy to spot.

🐄 Their strong, sturdy build makes them great for a variety of climates, from hot to cold.
🐄 Brown Swiss are incredibly resilient, often thriving on less-than-ideal feed and pasture conditions. Even though they don't need to worry about that around here. ;)

If you're looking for something new or shiny, you won’t find it in our milking parlor. For the past 15 years, we’ve milked an average of 150 cows, twice a day, in this same parlor. Before us, the previous owner was milking cows here for many years, while Brandon and I were still kids, with no idea that this place would one day be ours. We started with nothing on this old dairy farm and have spent the last 15 years building a pretty great life. While we haven’t been able to upgrade our milking parlor just yet, we have some exciting updates planned for 2025 to give this old girl a makeover! 🐮
